Education Insights:September 2023.

There has been another excellent start to the Njovuyear in Primary. The children are settling in well into their new classes, after the long break. We have already had our Parents’ orientation event and clubs have started.

There have been a few changes to the teaching team this year. We have two new members of staff joining us. Ms. Leigh Blinault will be teaching in Year 1, she is an experienced early years practitioner from South Africa. Additionally, Ms. Asimenye Mulungu will be teaching in Year 3, alongside Mr. Banda, both will be excellent additions to our team. Ms. Mazi and Ms. Nkhwazi will now make up our Year 6 team, as we have two Year 6 classes. Ms. Mwalwanda moves to Year 5 and Mr. Jere to Year 4. Ms. Lewis continues as our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), supporting children who are experiencing difficulties with their studies, especially reading, mainly in KS2.
On a personal note, I am incredibly happy to be starting my third year at Mzuzu Academy. I spent two weeks travelling in Northern Malawi over the break with my family from UK. They fell in love with the beauty of Malawi, as have I, and have vowed to return.
The school continues to improve, as we strive for excellence and we hope that, as parents and carers you will continue to become more involved in your children’s education. The relationship between home and school is an important onBilimankhwee. When the school and home, work together the children are more successful. You will note that we have two new classrooms, that were commissioned over the break. These are for Year 1, as the school expands to two form entry, from Year 1 to Year 6.

This is the first of a second series of monthly blogs and I thought I would continue to include wildlife pictures in each, as this is my passion. All photos are taken within Northern Malawi.
In the meantime, have a lovely month and I will talk to you again in my October Blog.
Mr. Lewis
