Covid-19 Protocols

As society recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic, we have a responsibility to make sure we adhere to the government’s guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our students. In accordance with government, the following is a summary of Mzuzu International Academy Covid-19 guidelines:

On the advice of doctors, anyone showing symptoms or who are at all sick are to remain at home in isolation for 2 weeks and to immediately inform the school.

Boarders have their own isolation rooms in the Boarding Houses. Should they become ill, then they will immediately be isolated and their parents informed.

All Boarders had their temperatures taken prior to returning to their Boarding Houses and from opening day. There will be daily temperature checks of Boarders before they go to breakfast. As per our policy Boarders will not be allowed to receive visitors.

No visitor or ancillary worker will be allowed into school unless they are wearing a mask.

Day scholars to have their temperatures taken before they enter campus and must be wearing masks before being allowed to board the bus. Hand sanitisation upon entering the building and wearing masks throughout the whole school day apart from when eating or drinking is also mandated.

Masks are available to buy in the Primary Office, at the Tuck Shop and at the school gates (at cost) and any student found without a mask will have to purchase one.

As the pandemic becomes a more manageable, the school will re introduce extra curricular activities.

In order to ensure our students receive sufficient exercise non-contact PE lessons will continue

In order to ease crowding in the cafeteria two other venues are now available for students to sit and eat. Food will be served there from hot plates by extra kitchen staff.

In the unlikely event that the school should be forced to close we will move to our e-learning platform.

The Senior Leadership Team will continue to assess the situation and should there be any changes parents will be informed immediately.
