Head of Primary’s BlogSeptember 2022.
There has been an excellent start to the year in Primary. The children are settling in well into their new classes, after the long break. We have already had our Parents’ orientation event and clubs have started. There are some additions to the staff this year, including Teaching assistants in Key Stage One, Ms. Hope and Ms. Tionge. Ms. Celma (an ex-student) joins us as an intern. The changes in the teaching staff include Ms. Khataza, who moves from Yr4 to Yr5 and Ms. Yewo who moves from TA & Art teacher to teaching Yr4. We will be welcoming back Ms. Emily from parental leave shortly. Many thanks go to Mr. Timothy, who has been covering the class during her absence. Ms Lewis also joins the staff of the school as the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). She will be supporting our pupils who are experiencing difficulties in their academic work, especially reading.
On a personal note, I am incredibly happy to be starting my second year at Mzuzu Academy and intend to take more time, now that my family have joined me, to explore the beautiful country that is Malawi.
The school continues to improve, as we strive for excellence and we hope that, as parents and carers you will continue to become more involved in your children’s education. The relationship between home and school is an important one. When the school and home, work together the children are more successful. This is the first of a series of monthly blogs and I thought I would include wildlife pictures in each as this is my passion. All photos are taken within the vicinity of the school.
In the meantime, have a lovely month and I will talk to you again in my October Blog.
Mr. Lewis
