Mzuzu International Academy Launches Founders scholarship Program to empower underprivillaged children.
On September 29, 2023, a heartwarming event unfolded at Mzuzu International Academy (MIA) that left a profound impact on the community. Dr. Anna Keys, the academy's proprietor, proudly introduced the Founders Scholarship Program in the presence of the Education Division Manager. This initiative aims to provide a lifeline to underprivileged children who display exceptional talent and intelligence but lack the opportunities to pursue their dreams. The Founders Scholarship Program marks a significant milestone for MIA, reflecting their commitment to nurturing young talents and creating a brighter future for Malawi.
The Founders Scholarship Program is a beacon of hope for talented and deserving students across the nation. Historically, MIA had already offered scholarships to students in Luwinga through the Kwithu CBO. However, with the launch of the Founders Scholarship, the program's reach has expanded significantly to encompass students from all corners of the country.
Currently, the Founders Scholarship has already benefited three exceptionally bright boys, Andrew Namalomba, Martin Botha and Wakisa Ngosi who achieved remarkable results in their PSLE examinations. These young scholars have secured placements in national secondary schools, thanks to the opportunities provided by the Founders Scholarship.
Dr. Anna Keys, the visionary behind this initiative, has made it clear that her commitment to these students goes beyond just high school. She intends to support them through their tertiary education, ensuring they have the chance to pursue a university degree and achieve their dreams.
In her remarks, Dr. Anna Keys emphasized that MIA is no ordinary private school. It is an institution dedicated to shaping well-rounded individuals who can make a positive impact in society. The Founders Scholarship Program reflects this ethos, as it not only focuses on academic excellence but also encourages personal growth and character development.
Representing the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Dorrice Tembo from the Northern Education Division praised MIA for its commitment to promoting education and competition among learners at the national level. She commended the academy for turning its words into actions and expressed her belief that capable organizations can play a crucial role in helping bridge the educational gap in Malawi.
Local schools in Malawi often face resource constraints that hinder their ability to nurture the country's brightest minds. The Founders Scholarship Program serves as a powerful motivator, encouraging capable students to continue their educational journey without fear of financial constraints. It not only supports individual dreams but also fosters a culture of excellence and achievement within the community.
One of the beneficiaries of the Founders Scholarship, Wakisa Ngosii, expressed his gratitude, stating that the scholarship has eased the financial burden on his parents. He understands the responsibility that comes with this opportunity and is determined to excel academically while maintaining good behavior and discipline.
One of the parents of a scholarship recipient shared their joy and pride, offering words of encouragement to the scholarship recipients to work even harder to achieve their dreams.
The Founders Scholarship Program at Mzuzu International Academy is a shining example of how education can transform lives and uplift communities. Dr. Anna Keys and her team have not only provided financial support but also a pathway for talented students to reach their full potential. As these young scholars embark on their academic journeys, they carry with them the belief that they can achieve anything they set their minds to, thanks to the Founders Scholarship Program's unwavering support and the vision of a brighter future that it represents.
