Half Term Message

Half Term Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Mzuzu Community,

A busy term – Maloto Board visit. Link to learn more about our partner

Here we are already with half term gone. Time moves fast and I thought that I would like to say hello and give you a few updates of what is coming up in the school in the next half of Term 1.

We certainly had a busy first half and a trawl through our Facebook page is a testament as to how much has been accomplished this year so far. Perhaps the highlight was with the visit of our beneficiaries and partners the ladies from the New York Maloto Board. They were very impressed with the school and specially the warm welcome they received from the students and staff of MIA. For those who want to know more please click here or here.

Moving on we are now busy on our journey for the second half of term with effective and purposeful teaching and learning as the mainstays of the each and every day and in addition a plethora of events and activities as well.

So looking ahead there is much that is happening, and I of course would like to extend a hearty  invitation to as many of you parents who can make it to some of these events. It would be great to see as many of you to what promises to be fun and enjoyable days.

The big five upcoming events are the Primary Sports Day on 11th November, the Secondary Sports Day on 18th November and then on the 25th International Day. This event will be largely a primary led theme with students representing a myriad of countries with lots of costumes and dancing from other nationalities and even food I am told. Continuing the sporting theme our sports stars have been invited to compete against Kamuzu Academy in their campus in ball games on Saturday 26th November. Again you are most welcome to come down and cheer for us.

Then in December it will be a turn for the thespians amongst us. On 9th December, the Key Stage 1 drama production will take place and on 16th December the Secondary drama production promises to have audiences thoroughly entertained and engaged.

In late December also there will be a Primary PTC and hopefully a many of you will be able to attend and see your child’s teachers. However, if you cannot at this time all you have to do is get in touch and arrange a consultation.

Furthermore, by now Secondary parents you would/should have received two monthly comments  - September and October as to how your son/daughter is performing in each subject class. I have been very pleased by this new innovation whereby you as parents are being kept closely informed as to the progress of your child. Certainly from the feedback from many parents, you have expressed your contentment with this positive step. If you have not received these comments, please then shout out and we will resend them to you. Most of these have been sent via email so it may be that you may have changed your email. Please do check with us.

Still to come in Secondary is a November monthly comments and then in December an end of term report.  From the combination of all reports you can ask to see your child’s teachers for a consultation if you so wish. If you want to see teachers pls contact us to arrange a meeting.

Lastly, I want to express a huge thank you of gratitude to all those who have paid their fees on time. I cannot begin to tell you how helpful this is to us and mine and our appreciation.  I would though like to remind the rest of you who are lagging to please consider this from our point of view and help us by paying promptly.

I hope to see as many of you in the upcoming events. Best wishes and see you soon.
